WaveRunners was founded in 2018 by a group of Vlora natives who grew up swimming, fishing, and exploring the bays and sea caves along Albania's southern coast. What began as a single speedboat and a passion for sharing these hidden wonders has grown into a full-service tour company known across the Balkans.
Our base is Vlora — Albania's second city and the gateway to the Karaburun-Sazan Marine National Park, one of the most ecologically pristine and visually dramatic coastlines in the entire Mediterranean. These are waters that have seen Phoenician traders, Greek colonists, Roman legions, Venetian merchants, and Ottoman admirals. We sail the same routes today, but with considerably more horsepower.

WaveRunners launched with a single speedboat and a bold ambition: to introduce the world to Albania's hidden coastline. Our first season sold out by word of mouth alone.
Demand grew rapidly. We added two new vessels, hired additional certified captains, and expanded our route portfolio to include the Sazan Island circuit.
Like all tourism operators globally, we faced an unprecedented challenge. We used the quiet period to upgrade our fleet, obtain new safety certifications, and develop new tour routes.
Albania emerged as one of Europe's most exciting travel destinations. We ran our busiest season ever, welcoming guests from 30+ countries and earning a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
Now in our sixth season, WaveRunners is recognised as the leading speedboat tour operator in southern Albania. We remain family-run, locally rooted, and as passionate about these waters as the day we launched.
The Karaburun-Sazan Marine National Park is the jewel of the Albanian Adriatic — 274 km² of protected coastline, sea caves, underwater canyons, and ecosystems of extraordinary biodiversity. Established in 2010, it is one of the newest and least-visited national marine parks in the Mediterranean.
As operators within the park, we take our environmental responsibility seriously. We adhere strictly to park regulations, maintain safe distances from sensitive habitats, and actively participate in local conservation initiatives.
